UL-CCIC opens branch office in Chongqing

In June 2006, UL-CCIC Company Limited, a joint venture between Underwriters Laboratories Inc. and CCIC, opened a branch office in Chongqing, China. The Chongqing branch is the fifth office established by UL-CCIC following the setup of offices in Guanghzou, Suzhou, Shanghai and Beijing, It is also the first branch office of UL-CCIC opened in Western China.

The Chongqing office would provide Western China manufacturing businesses with management system registration services, helping them register to ISO/ TS 16949, ISO 14001, QC 080000, ISO 13485, etc.

UL qualifies STR (Turkey) for RoHS testing

UL has qualified the European RoHS Directive by qualifying the Specialized Technology Resources Inc. (STR) laboratory in Turkey to perform chemical analyses of homogeneous materials. These analyses will determine the level of the substances restricted by the directive, which sets specific limits for the presence of lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, mercury, PBB and PBDE. With STR (Turkey), UL has now qualified seven laboratories around the globe to conduct RoHS testing.

UL Greater China FUS Forum for Wire & Cable Industry

UL will be holding the “UL Greater China Wire & Cable FUS Forum” in Dongguan, China from November 9 to 10, 2006. Attending the forum will be production managers, quality assurance and technical professionals from the Wire & Cable Industry. The forum will provide a platform for the exchange of information on various technical and safety compliance issues.

Representatives from major U.S. retailers as well as wire and cable manufacturers will share their perspectives, alongside UL’s Primary Designated Engineers’ updates on standards and requirements.
