UL Apex Co., Ltd (UL Apex), the wholly-owned affiliate of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. in Japan, was registered by the Taiwanese Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) as a designated EMC laboratory on December 30, 2005.UL Apex was accredited by BSMI to provide EMC testing according to the standards of CNS 13803 (1999) for Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) apparatus, CNS13438 (1997) for Information Technology Equipment (ITE), and CNS 13783-1 (1998) for Home Appliances. UL Apex was the first laboratory designated for ISM apparatus and Home Appliance in Japan.

For local electrical and electronics manufacturers of Japan, UL Apex can provide them with local EMC testing service as they apply for BSMI certification. The manufacturers can therefore enjoy the benefits of lower sample transportation costs, shortened testing time, correspondence in local language, and ultimately faster turnaround time for obtaining BSMI Certification.In February 2005, UL Apex was registered by BSMI in the area of product safety for ITE. UL Apex therefore can now provide both product safety and EMC testing to ITE manufacturers.
