UL launches the Client Lab Program in the ASEAN Region
Helping Panasonic AVC Networks Singapore to conduct UL testing at its in-house facility

UL APEX UL University, UL's knowledge-transfer arm, has launched the Client Lab Program in the ASEAN region. The new program allows qualified manufacturers to conduct UL testing at their in-house facilities, thereby obtaining UL safety certifications in less time, at less cost, and with increased flexibility.

Under the Client Lab Program, Panasonic AVC Networks Singapore Pte. Ltd. (PAVCSG), one of the world's leading technology innovation companies, has successfully obtained the lab qualification in September 2005. After undergoing a rigorous training, consultation, and assessment process that took nearly two months, PAVCSG is now ready to conduct UL tests for Audio/ Video products at its facility.

With this qualification, PAVCSG will gain greater control of the testing turnaround time to meet aggressive production schedules and maximize the efficiency of its supply chain process. This reduction in lead time will also result in faster time to market.

To participate in the Client Lab Program, manufacturers need to demonstrate that they have the physical resources, equipment, environment, and qualified personnel to conduct testing that meet UL's safety and quality procedures and standards. This may seem like a difficult level to achieve, but UL experts are available to direct and lead manufacturers throughout the entire process. UL experienced engineers provide comprehensive guidance by offering the suitable technical training, facility development assistance, and assessment support to ensure the proper adherence to UL standards.

Established in 1977, PAVCSG is a wholly owned overseas subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (MEI) based in Osaka, Japan. PAVCSG designs and manufactures hi-fi audio key modules and equipment under the brand name Panasonic. PAVCSG has a floor space of 54,800m2 housing all integrated production facilities in the factory located in Bedok, an area that is South-East of Singapore.
