UL Taiwan receives accreditation to perform TCO testing
To provide one-stop UL/GS/TCO Certifications for ITE Products

UL International, L.L.C., Taiwan Branch (UL Taiwan) has been recognized by SWEDAC (Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment) and accredited by TCO as a TCO testing laboratory. This enables UL Taiwan to conduct TCO testing and issue TCO testing reports for manufacturers. UL Taiwan can also help manufactures to get TCO Certification.

UL Taiwan has been recognized to perform TCO testing on flat panel displays based on the labeling standards of TCO'99 and TCO'03, as well as desktop and portable computers based on TCO'05.

Apart from TCO recognition, UL Taiwan is allowed to test information technology equipment (ITE) for compliance with ergonomics requirements of the GS Mark under supervision of UL DEMKO, which has the recognition from the German Government Organization ZLS as GS-body. The GS Mark Certification will be granted from UL DEMKO. This means UL Taiwan can support Information Technology Equipment (ITE) manufacturers with one-stop market access solutions, which bring the benefits of:

Integrated certification scheme: By submitting samples once, you can enjoy the multiple certifications for UL, GS, and TCO, avoiding duplicated testing procedures, thus maximizing efficiencies and reducing time and cost. With the UL-GS mark, your products can gain fast access to the European market.

Meeting the 5E's requirements: Obtaining TCO labels from UL means samples of your products are tested and certified to meet requirements concerning Electrical Safety, Emission, Energy, Ergonomics and Ecology. The competitiveness of your products in the international market is largely sharpened.

Dependable and fast testing turnarounds: UL has an accredited laboratory for ergonomics testing on flat panel displays (FPD), laptop computers, keyboards, and a wide variety of computer peripherals. UL provides ITE manufacturers with one-stop safety and ergonomics testing and certification services.

Tapping into UL's knowledge resource: You can leverage UL's rich resource of standards and certification knowledge. For safety design and production right through to distribution, we offer tailored solutions that meet your specific needs.

What is TCO Certification?
TCO standards are developed by TCO Development, a company owned by TCO (Tjänstemännens Centralorganisation; or the Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees). TCO Development aims to create the conditions for a good office working environment by developing quality certification and labeling systems for the assessment of office equipments and work environments. Five areas, or the "5E's", are assessed, namely Ergonomics, Emissions, Energy saving, Electrical safety and Ecology.

TCO Certification is mostly voluntary but is increasingly emphasized by the European and North American markets. With labeling standards including TCO' 99, TCO' 01, TCO' 03, TCO' 04 and TCO 05', TCO Certifications cover product categories including mobile phones, office furniture, peripherals of an office workstation such as Visual Display Terminals (VDT), personal computers, portable computers, keyboards and printers.UL Logo
