Get UL Labels from Authorized Suppliers to
Safeguard UL Mark's Integrity
To safeguard the integrity of the UL Mark, and hence protect the interest of manufacturers whose products bear the UL-Certification Mark, the Authorized Label Suppliers Program (ALSP) came into effect in April 2003.
Under the program, UL conducts audits to its authorized label suppliers to ensure that they are producing UL labels in compliance with ULs printing and distribution requirements. In a nine-month transition period, UL worked with the label suppliers, including those who print UL labels for use on UL-Certified products they manufacture, to meet new program requirements.
With effect from January 1, 2004, only UL certifications Marks printed by a label supplier meeting the new requirements can be used.
Label suppliers of the Recognized Component Mark are not affected by this program. In addition, UL certification Marks supplied as part of a subassembly of an OEMs finished product are not required to be supplied by an authorized label supplier. Examples of these sorts of Marks include those that are silk screened, die stamped or molded into the enclosure of an OEMs product by a molder or fabricator.
To differentiate between the ALSP program with other similar Recognition programs, ALSP addresses the printing and distribution of the UL-Certification Mark of the label only, and does not evaluate the physical properties of it.

For further details of the ALSP, contact the UL Label Center that is nearest to you.
