UL offers lead, cadmium testing services
UL Commercial Inspection and Testing Services offers independent, third-party testing for lead and cadmium in polymeric materials. UL will test for lead and cadmium, and provide a report that outlines the substances content level in the tested product sample. UL tests are based on methods outlined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and European standards. The testing results in a one-time report only; no Follow-Up Services or UL certification is involved. For more information, contact Mr. Soon-lee Ng, Regional CITS Coordinator, Asia Pacific by phone at +65-6274-0702; or
by e-mail at SoonLee.Ng@sg.ul.com.

2003 Safety Campaigns reach 113 million U.S. consumers
Operation Decoration, ULs winter safety campaign focusing on the safe use of holiday and decorative lighting products, reached an estimated 26 million consumers throughout the United States. Every year, UL organizes four seasonal safety campaigns to educate consumers on the importance of purchasing products carry the UL brand. In 2003, those programs reached about 113 million people. These efforts also benefit manufacturers of UL-Listed products, since 63 percent of the U.S. population says it is more confident of a products safety once it has been tested by UL.
